Teen Queen Kimberley
Joyful screams filled the air as 19 year old Kimberley Griffith was announced queen at the 11th annual Miss Teen Barbados Universal pageant held last Sunday night. Griffith will therefore have the honour of representing Barbados at the Miss Teen universal Pageant.
The Show,organised by sparkles International,was held at Grand Barbados Beach Resort, where a heated auditorium was packed to capacity and the six lovely ladies turned up the heat as they competed in talent, swimwear and formal wear segments.
The winning talent by Claire Lane was extremely emotive dance piece in tribute to Haiti. Overall winner Kimberley Griffith,who also won Most Photogenic, performed a dramatic poem entitles Spirit of the Unborn, a story of abortion from the perspective of an unborn child, which also captivated the audience that several of those present responded with uninhibited displays of emotion.
In the swimwear segment, the tall and slender Kristal Eversley proved she had the body to win first place. She place second overall.
Rachel Rawlins was stunning in a peach and pink Adri Holder design for which she won Best gown. Rawlins who placed second overall, also won Most disciplined.
The contestants were asked to research a special project about a local tourist attraction or historic place for their involvement int he question and answer segment. Claire Layne won the prize for best project.
Throughout the night various sections of the crowed roared as their favourite contestants graced the stage.
Crowd favourites Kimberley Griffith and Rachel Rawlins each had a cheering pose that they did not disappoint,as they copped two of the top three places.
If the cheers from the audience represented their opinion of the show they truly had a blast
